Are you available to possibly having the conversation of your life and bring smiles & happiness to the lives of our residents
At Lytton Gardens, we serve lunch at 12-1pm and dinner daily from 5pm-6pm. We are seeking volunteers who can come in and help set-up, pass out dinner, clean-up and hang out with our residents in our Dining Hall.
You'll be asked volunteering at least one hour a week, and in return you'll have an opportunity to feel wonderful.

Skills

  • We will train you!: Transportation to our facility. Must be 15 years or older, unless very mature.

Looking to get involved in a local volunteer project? Consider the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Menlo Park!

For nearly 100 years, the American Cancer Society has been working to create a world with less cancer and more birthdays. And we can't do it without your help. Relay For Life of San Carlos/Belmont is a community event that aims to help people get well, stay well, find cures and fight back against a disease that takes too much!

Help needed! Team Development, Mission, Advocacy, Recruitment, Entertainment, Food, Sponsorship, Marketing and other Committee positions available. Requirements

Relay For Life Committee Expectations:
When you become a member of the Relay For Life committee, you become an American Cancer Society volunteer. You, along with your fellow committee members are producing an event that will positively impact the lives of people in your community. By helping raise cancer awareness and money, you and everyone involved in Relay For Life are fighting back against cancer. Relay For Life is a community-owned, volunteer-driven event. Your staff partner is your coach and your resource.

As a Relay For Life Committee Member:
  • Plan on attending all committee meetings.
  • Recruit help! As your event grows, you will need sub-committees.
  • Two-year terms are recommended. Plan for your transition by appointing a co-chair.
  • Assist other committee members when asked.
  • Recruit teams! This is the key to a successful Relay
  • Complete a partnership agreement with event chair and subcommittee chairs.
  • Have a team of your own or be a team member.
  • Plan to be at the event to help set-up.
  • Plan to camp out and be at the event the entire 24 hours.
  • Plan to stay until the end and help clean up.
  • Get all the work done prior to the event so you can enjoy the event.
  • Attend the wrap-up meeting to brainstorm how to improve next year's event.

Description

Join us for day of fishing fun at San Jose's Lake Cunningham Park. Help teach children ages 5-15 how to fish and become responsible anglers. You will assist our expert volunteers to take kids throug a basic fishing clinc, and then you'll walk the kids out to the lake to go fish!
Fishing skills are not required; you simply need to be comfortable around children and the outdoors. And if you don't know fishing, you'll learn yourself by watching!
Pre-registration is required for this event. Volunteers report at 7 AM to Lake Cunningham Park, near Tully and White Rds. in San Jose.

Requirements

Volunteers age 14-15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout the event. Volunteers age 16-17 may participate without parent/guardian supervision but only if they present a completed volunteer application including a parent or guardian's signature. Application forms as available at the event but the parent or guardian must be present to sign.

Description

Come help our expert staff to maintain some of the most beautiful, pristine parklands in Santa Clara Valley. An important element of this task is to remove non-native plant species, and volunteers are vital to this labor intensive task.
You will work on brushing trails in Almaden Quicksilver County Park. Volunteers meet at the Hacienda parking lot on Almaden Rd. just past the community of New Almaden.
Pre-registration is mandatory. No special skills are required but the work may be moderately strenuous. Tools, works gloves and snacks are provided; please bring your own bottled water.
Sturdy hiking shoes, long pants and long sleeves are recommended, as is sun protection and/or rain gear.

Requirements

Volunteers age 14-15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian through the entire event. To save time please bring a signed volunteer application -- or you may fill one out at the event.
Volunteers age 16-17 may participate without parent/guardian supervision, but only if they present a complete County Parks volunteer application signed by a parent/guardian. Application forms are available with this posting, or at the event but a parent/guardian must be present to sign.

We are setting-up a new accounting system, doing it right so that we're ready to grow. We need help inputing the deposits and expenses for this past fiscal year.

As our nonprofit grows in the weeks and months ahead, our accounting system must keep up. A summer internship is available.

Skills

  • Temp. Restricted Fund accounting: Experience in setting-up and managing temporarily restricted funds is a plus!

Requirements

Excellent attention to detail, good people skills, and bookkeeping experience are all required.
