Description
JW House, a non profit in Santa Clara that provides a guest house on hospital grounds for families of patients receiving treatment, is seeking a Special Events/Marketing Intern.
Duration: March 2011 - October 2011
Hours: 10-15 hours per week
Location: JW House, Santa Clara
JW House seeks a motivated, self-starting student who is enthusiastic about non-profit organizations. The intern will directly support JW House staff and gain valuable skills while assisting with communications/public relations, event planning, corporate research and volunteer outreach for JW House. This unpaid internship can provide portfolio building experience, a flexible schedule and valuable experience in the non-profit sector. Special Events/Marketing Intern will assist in planning with two major JW House events: Spring Fundraiser on June 5 and the 3rd Anniversary Event on September 23.
Benefits:
•Non Profit experience in coordinating fundraising cultivation events and educational programs through mission-related activities
•Opportunity to work closely with professional staff, committee members, and local board members
•Gain working knowledge of public relations functions, tools, and strategies
•Field experience in general business, public/media relations, event coordinating, marketing, and fundraising
Responsibilities:
•Assist with social media (Facebook) account and local web pages
•Write copy and assist with preparation of Summer Newsletter
•Assemble press kits and mailings
•Research sponsorship opportunities with local corporations/businesses
•Attend committee/board meetings and complete minutes
•Secure in-kind donations
•Help with event logistics
